Airbnb Turnover Cleaning: What a Guest-Ready Checklist Really Covers

June 18, 2026 Columbus Janitorial LLC

Guests judge a short-term rental in the first thirty seconds. Before they've unpacked, they've already looked at the bathroom, pulled back the bedspread, and glanced at the kitchen counters. A turnover clean isn't about making a place look tidy — it's about passing that first inspection every single time.

The bathroom is where reviews are won and lost. A hair on the shower floor or a ring in the toilet undoes everything else. A proper turnover means scrubbing the tub or shower, cleaning the toilet inside and out, polishing mirrors and fixtures, wiping down the vanity, and checking the drains. Fresh towels go out folded the same way every time.

Beds come next. Every bed gets stripped and made with clean linens, and pillows get checked for stains. Guests look under the covers — it's worth looking before they do.

In the kitchen, the details are the ones previous guests leave behind: crumbs in the toaster, a sticky ring inside the microwave, a forgotten container in the fridge. Counters, sink, stovetop, microwave, and the fridge interior should all be checked, and every dish put away clean.

Then the reset. Trash emptied in every room, floors vacuumed and mopped, and the rental staged exactly the way your listing photos show it — throw pillows, towels, remotes, the welcome note. Consistency matters as much as cleanliness: guests notice when a place doesn't match the pictures.

Finally, a turnover is the right moment to catch small problems early — a dead light bulb, a stain on the couch, a low supply of soap or paper towels. A good cleaner flags these for the host instead of leaving the next guest to find them.
